Shock Therapy..

Previously, it used to be between parties and politicians.

We did not bother about it.  That’s their business. So we smiled and lived with it. Now it is happening between various arms of democracy. People are watching it, but with a huge helplessness and anger in their stomach.

The trading of corruption charges between parties and politicians is a common one. But can that be tolerated between various arms of Government..?

I produce this verbatim from The Hindu. “The Chief Justice told the A-G: “Tell us whether the criterion of ‘impeccable integrity’ [as laid down in the Vineet Narain case] is an eligible criterion or not. The issue as to how he will function as CVC when his name is there in a charge sheet will crop up at every stage as in every case the CBI has to report to him.””.

Mr. Vahanvati said there was no involvement of Mr. Thomas in the palmolein import case and sanction to prosecute him was not processed. “If the criterion [impeccable integrity] has to be included, then every judicial appointment can be subject to scrutiny. Every judicial appointment will be challenged.”

So, what does this mean..?

The CJI opines that CVC is NOT of impeccable integrity. The Attorney General opines that Judges are NOT of impeccable integrity either. Great!

Well, we knew all this. But that the arms of democracy are openly fighting out a battle and washing their dirty linen in Public is a new thing.

Do the tax-paying public of India, with 65% population remaining very poor, just living on rice and tea, paying taxes even on rice, salt, tea, milk and even water HAVE the right to know which JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS are NOT OF IMPECCABLE INTEGRITY..?

Do the tax-paying public of India, have the right to know the assets that Mr. Thomas (who was an accused No.8 in Palmolein import case) possess along with near and dear relatives..?

It is not just the politicians, bureaucrats and judiciary. The Army Officers in Maharashtra it seems are involved in Land Scam, where they forge documents to give NoC for building clearance within 500 meters of Defense Installations.

There is a logic for getting building clearance within 500m of Defense properties. But Army’s own officers violate it for money and are endangering Defense properties. So where is their love for their country..?

The land scam investigations that are going on clearly indicate that the Judicial officers and CVC are not alone. Even high-ranking Army officers are NOT of IMPECCABLE INTEGRITY.

But it does not stop there. The CBI swoop on LIC and Public Sector Bank’s top honchos today in multi-crore scam, I understand should open up a further can of worms if it is pursued freely.

So the Judicial and Army officers are not alone. We have Public Sector top-honchos and Big Business Corporate Executives who do not have Impeccable Integrity.

But this scam is just a tip of iceberg. I really pity the Public Sector Bank and LIC officials who have been arrested for getting Rs.16 lakhs to 30 lakhs bribes from Money Matters to provide Loans to big business organizations.

Make a simple Calculation.

For providing a loan of Rs.300 crore will a person take just Rs.30Lakh bribe..?  Does it appear sane, given the risk that he is taking..? Ofcourse these are Public sector CEO’s who are paid a pittance when compared to Big Business Bosses. But will they risk their career for just 15-30 lakhs..? What will they get in this money..? Not even a 100 sqft in a city.

No, Definitely Not. They are just implementers of decisions.

Definitely there is someone up on top who has taken Rs.30 crores bribe for clearing Rs.300 crore loan. And this Rs.30 lakhs bribe to the official is just  a clearance money that is passed down the chain.

Who has the capacity in this higher up chains to receive Rs.30 crore bribe and instruct the officials to clear the loan of Rs.300 crore..? Definitely it is someone in the Government’s finance ministries now or previously.

So the Judicial, Army officers, Big Business honchos, Public Sector honchos are not alone. They are strongly backed up by ministers. So we have top-ranking cabinet ministers who do not have impeccable integrity.

So How can we reform this system..? If corruption is Cancer, how do we cure Cancer..? By providing Chemo therapy which shocks the body and make it loose all is vigor and valor.

In the same way, lets’ do a ‘Shock Therapy’. Catch the real Big fishes who have been thriving here for quite a long time in Holistic attires and put them behind bars. These fishes are in Ministers, Big Business CEOs,  Judiciary, Army, bureaucracy and where not..? Catch the real Big fishes in the money pedlars community and put them behind bars.

Let the nation come to a stop for a while, due to all these sudden arrests. Let that inculcate a fear in the minds of people. Let us loose some productivity and growth, as at the top echelon there is a severe crippling.

But after this shock therapy when we grow again, the cancerous cells would have been eliminated and it would be a more equitable growth.
