It’s claimed and publicised as an ancient Vedic astrology book but the Red Book of Astrology, fondly coined as Red Astrology in some countries, is not at all an ancient work. In fact Red Book of Astrology, originally known as Lal (Red) Kitab (Book) is a synthesis of five books, originally authored in Percian, during 1939-1952, by one successful fortune teller, Pandit Roop Chand Joshi (1898–1982). Interestingly several astrologers compares his works to the greatest ancient masters of this craft, like Mahirshi Bhrigu and Acharya Parashar.

Philosophy of Lal Kitab
Basically the Red Book or Lal Kitab is mostly about palmistry. The astrological contents are added to give it an authentic touch. The Lal Kitab appears to be a remedial fortune telling book that tries to repair the effects of the ailing, blind and adversely affecting planets.
This Red Book describes our palms in a very scientific manner as divided into twelve parts corresponding to the respective zodiac signs. The book attributes various palms’ shape to different planets. These shapes wherever they exist on palm are supposed to be occupying particular houses of the birth chart.
Traditionally Red Astrology practitioners prepare the astrological chart of their clients on the basis of the palm only; hence they appear very different from the horoscopes prepared on astrological principles. The book has some very strange concepts, like the artificial planets. It is defined as a group of two planets together form one particular artificial planet or a substitute of that planet. Like Sun and Venus together form one artificial Moon. Similarly there are artificial planets for each of the planets including the luner nodes, Rahu and Ketu. According to Lal Kitab the affliction of Sun shall be passed on to Ketu. In other words the affliction would affect the results of Ketu.

The Red Astrology considers as if planet Mars has two very different aspects. They are termed as lower Mars and upper Mars, one is considered to be malefic or bad Mars and the other one as a benefic or favouring Mars. This is special characteristic of Lal Kitab’s astrology.
Apart from this, Red Astrology has a concept of blind or sleeping planets and blind or sleeping houses as well. In the classical astrology it is considered that the planets are supposed to have an aspect of some houses and affect the results of those particular houses.
The Red Astrology treats this matter differently, it says that if the aspecting planet has no planet in the aspected house the corresponding planet will be treated as an inactive or blind planet. Traditional vedic astrology calls this phenomenon as weak houses. So in a sense, Lal Kitab has a good reasoning as well.
The most interesting quality of The Lal Kitab is that it suggests elaborate remedies of different types of problems that bother any person. In fact the Red Astrology’s concept of artificial planets offers great help in remedies against planetary afflictions. Like Mercury is an enemy of Jupiter. If Mercury afflicts Jupiter the Lal Kitab suggests helping Jupiter by supporting Rahu (moon’s node) by negating Mercury. Similarly enemy planets are weakened and favouring planets are strengthened by different easy, inexpensive and extremely effective remedial measures.
The measures suggested in Lal Kitab are electrically effective in solving all kinds of human troubles and tensions, without inflicting harm on anybody i.e. these remedies are completely self defensive against the evils created by the planets without causing injury in anyway to anyone concerned.
Should You Trust Lal Kitab Predictions?
This wonder book of astrology is very interesting and intriguing, simultaneously it requires a lot of practice before you start using the craft yourself. The best course is to first read any authentic and affordable Lal Kitab, like one re-written in simple manner by Pandit Radha Krishna Srimali (Diamond Pocket Book, India). You may try to download one of the very popular software available easily for free on trial, it’s called Lal Kitab Explorer. Initially you should use your knowledge within your close circle of friends and relatives and after you feel that it is worth buying, then only you should buy a licensed version. Using Lal Kitab Explorer you can find what are the weak spots in your Horoscope and also discover the remedies prescribed for them in Lal Kitab.
