India & Freedom

Those countless nights of fights,
And endless days of fright.
All the guarding that you do,
And the feel of freedom that is true,
Is there a better way we can care,
For all the help that you share.

On this August 15th seeing so many of ‘happy’ messages being exchanged, my heart goes out for those soldiers who died fighting for us even after India attained ‘Independence’. Respecting free human spirit which is devoid of strife or hatred is all that independence is about. Hope more sense prevails..

These images are from my visit to the Wagah-Attari border in 2009.These images bring back to me the memory of my visit to Wagah and Amritsar that cold winter evening.A lot of things are said and spoken about freedom and independence these days. . Any Indian who will want to experience a trailer of what the real scene at the border is like should visit this place without fail. The way we will define and analyse freedom will definitely change. Happened to me.

Here’s wishing and praying for safe freedom filled days to my motherland .

  1. Our tribute does not end by saying hats off to them . They have given their lives. What have you given? Please uderstand that every second you live should give some value to your life if not for the ppl around you.

If you are unable to live up to your life, you will not be able to do anything for your neighbor even, forget about motherland.

If you have the habit of reading do read “the fountain head” you will understand the value of your own life. Live up to your values, set by you and you alone, you are sure to fill your part in this game.

  2. Jallianwallah Bagh still is so alive. The bullet holes, the well and the narrow entry, every thing is so scary! Can’t forget the silent-unknown expression on the soldiers’ face going to Kargil. We were on our way to Kedarnath in June 1999, when we passed through trucks full of soldiers moving towards Kargil. The soldiers were all absolutely silent, staring blankly at the mountains and the villages they may or may not see again! Our driver informed-” None of these soldiers have told their family that they are actually going for the war. They have either informed this to a neighbor or to a friend, but not the family.” Even we felt clueless. Here we were enjoying vacation and the soldiers leaving their family and rushing to protect our country! Hats off to all our soldiers and a humble bow to all our freedom fighters!
