How to Tone your Upper Body

Michelle Obama is constantly complimented for her well-toned arms and sculpted collarbones. If you too desire to get complimented for you arms and shoulders, you do not need to be the first lady to achieve that. Just some smart exercise should suffice.

Here are some easy to follow tips to get a toned upper body.

Step 1 – Warm up your body.

The body needs to understand that you are about to start an exercise regime. Therefore, start with a light spot jogging and stretching.

Step 2 – For shoulders and Chest

Get a couple of weights and if you cannot find these at home, start with two fridge bottles filled with water, but see to it that both weigh equal. Stand straight and hold your weight with the palms. Now outstretch your arm to the sides. Bent elbows slightly and get your hands in front of you with the hands almost touching. Return to start position and repeat 10 times.

Step 3 – For Shoulders and Upper Arms

Stand straight and hold weights in your hands. Stretch your arm upwards completely straight. Bring them down slowly without bending your elbows, till your shoulder level. Hold the weight for two seconds and bring them down on the side og your thighs. It should be a semi-circular motion. Repeat ten times.

Step 4 – For Arms

Sit straight. Hold your weights with the palm facing upwards. Bring arm from the front towards your shoulder and bring them back down. Repeat ten times.

Step 5 – For Chest and Back

Sit straight with your back supported by a wall. Your legs should be stretched in front of you. Outstretch your hands with the weights in them in line with the chest and supported by the wall. Bring them in front of you with the elbow not bending and pull them back.

  1. The rate of your success will depend upon how frequently you repeat these exercise. Every alternate day is a good way to ensure results.
  2. Toning exercise are never too strenuous or hurtful. If you do get a cramp, feel strained or pain while performing the exercise, you might be using heavier weights than intended.
