Adobe created the PDF file format in the early ’90s and has expanded greatly to over 450 million PDF files on the Internet. DOC format was created in the early ’80s but there are only 75 million DOC files on the web today. In comparison PDF is more commonly used and shared from user to user.

Editing Text in PDF
PDF files store text in single lines instead of having it continuously flow from one line to another. Because of this, editing text within a PDF can become a difficult task as the program will not amend the lines underneath to flow as regular text would. Special programs and applications have been developed to combat this issue.
Adobe Acrobat and Professional has a TouchUp text feature that works only with small amendments to text.
Some users have reported that the TouchUp feature has many glitches and when modifying text all other text behaves weirdly to the change. Adobe Illustrator can open PDF and has the ability to edit text although if non-default text was used and is not present on your PC, Illustrator will replace with default text. Editing Images in PDF
Adobe Acrobat comes with already installed tools to edit most of a PDF document. It is recommended you have either Photoshop or Gimp as your additional editing program. Using the TouchUp feature, select which image or object it is you want to edit. Click it and select the Edit option.
The default image editing software will open, that is why it is important to have top of the line editing software installed. Paint just won’t do it. Now, you are able to edit the image to your liking and reinsert it into the PDF file.
If you are replacing an image with another the same concept applies. Open the image to be replaced in your editing software and replace it with your new image. Once you have made the swap, save it and it will be reinserted into the PDF. There are other applications that allow editing of pictures but this is the easiest way to go about it.
Font Color Editing in PDF
Changing color within a PDF file is rather restricted. Again, a PDF file was not initially intended to be changed but viewed. The most recent version of Acrobat Professional can convert a colored PDF to a black and white version. Select the Advanced settings and then Print Production and then Convert Colors. Here is where you can change any full colored PDF into a black and white document.
PDF files are highly becoming one of the most popular formats to transfer and view files and presentations but still remain quite tricky when trying to change anything around. Back-ups might come in handy while manipulating content that wasn’t originally meant to be changed.
