Francis Induwar – Are naxals really fighting for social justice?

Francis InduvarThe kidnapped police officer, Francis Induwar, from the special branch was found dead in Ranchi, along Jamshedpur-Ranchi highway. It is alleged that he was beheaded by Naxalite extremists. And if this turns out to be authentic information then certainly Maoists have become synonymous with heinous crimes. In the recent times, Naxals have increased their activities to killing state and central government officials.

The recent killing of Francis Induvar came as the result of demand to release of Maoist activist leader Kobad Gandhy and Chatrodhar Mahato, who is presently lodged in Tihar Jail, New Delhi. For quite sometime, Naxalites were demanding the release of Kobad and Chatrodhar Mahato, failing which abduction and beheading of an honest and brave police officer, Francis Induvar took place.

However, speaking on the occasion and justifying violent activities of Naxals, CPI (Maoist) central committee (CC) member and one of the leading spokesperson, Azad categorically pointed out that beheading of Francis Induvar was a big wrong, and confidently avowed that such wrongs will not be committed in future.

Mupalla Laxman Rao, or Ganapathi who’s the most wanted man by the Indian Intelligence agencies. His power runs through as many as 15 Indian states. Having said all that, it becomes quite amazing to know that maoists started their activities to protect people from atrocities of the government forces. Gradually it started to play different roles of which killing also became a larger part.

Maoists have failed to realize that there is a non violent way of expressing their angst. If a section of the group is against the government order, or if Maoists feel that government is not working in a right manner, they can have their opinion voiced in the parliament, especially, using their political face. Killing people to get their means solved is not the right way, and for which, even their leaders find no sensible justification to give.

There are various other means of finding social justice, and killing of human beings is certainly not the accepted way to get the things voiced in the government corridors. In fact, it was never the right way of doing the things. The land from where the world’s greatest Non-Violent figure arose; the land of Gurus and Saints; the land of morning enchanting – Maoists have forgotten all the things before they could actually get into the real defining of their character.

If one sees through the faded past, the very essence of great revolutions such as French Revolution lost all its relevance during the course of revolution. Similarly, seeking social justice through a bloody revolution will serve no means, except posing threat to precious human life, valuable human resources and the country in general.

Maoists fail to realize that social justice cannot be demanded forcefully. In fact, it needs to be practiced through a common consensus and using rightful means. Till that ideology is not practiced there are certainly some problems in the very policy of conducting social justice by the maoists. In such a scenario, time is not far when the nefarious maoist activities will be run over by the legitimate government.
