Cucumber salad is the most common type of salad we are accustomed with. A little variation in the presentation of this salad makes it more lucrative.

To make cucumber flower :
1) Peel the cucumber and cut thin slices.
2) Take the dish in which you want to garnish.
3) Place the cucumber slices in the middle of the dish. The cucumbers will be placed in such a way that the slices are partially over the another at equal intervals in a circular manner. (Refer to the picture).
4) Place a cherry in the middle.
5) Serve the salad after adding other vegetables or fruit.

Another pattern of flower can be made by altering in the way the cucumber is arranged.
To make another variation of cucumber flower:
1) Slice the cucumber into thin slices and then cut them from the centre such that the cucumber slices are half-moon shaped.
2) Take 5 such pieces at a time and stack them. With the help of the finger dab the stack so that they are laid flat on the dish ( resembling almost like a Japanese fan)
3) Repeat the same pattern with 5 other stacks of cucumbers.
4) Place the 5 cucumber stacks in circular pattern as shown in the picture.
5) Accentuate the cucumber flower by placing a cherry in the middle.

Variation: In the above garnishings, substitute carrot, kiwi, lemon, lime, or orange slices for the cucumber slices; continue as directed.

All the above garnishings are very easy to make and ideal for the beginners. In my forth coming posts I will be coming up with more such garnishing ideas which are not so difficult and perfection can be achieved by practicing 2-3 times.
