Australian Pop Star, Kylie Minogue Arrives in Mumbai.
The “Impossible Princess” has had an escalating musical career graph starting from 1988, with her first hit album “Kylie”. Anyone who is into Pop music is bound to know and love Kylie Minogue. The Australian Pop Princess is also an icon of strength and endurance for millions of women across the world. After her 2003 album “Body Language” she was diagnosed with the dreaded breast cancer which forced her to leave the music scene for 4 years. When she came back with her 2007 album interestingly titled “X”, people were delightfully surprised that it did not contain songs and ballads of survival and sickness, but it was plain old Kylie doing her best music as before and making people dance to her tunes.
And now the “Did It Again” girl has done it again. She has made news by accepting to sing, dance and act in the Bollywood movie “Blue” being directed by Anthony D’ Souza. The movie has already made news for being the most expensive Bollywood movie and the near mishap that occurred underwater with Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and the cameraman. It is being touted as an underwater, edge-of-seat thriller by its makers. However, the story is being kept under tight wraps.
Interestingly, for the music of the movie, Kylie Minogue collaborates with none other than A. R. “Oscar” Rahman. And would you like to venture a guess as to who gets to choreograph the song, which is composed by Rahman and has already been recorded in London? Yes, you got it right! Farah Khan is to teach Ms. Minogue her steps. Both Farah and Kylie feel that it is a great honour to be working with one another.
Blue stars Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles. The other two leading ladies are Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif, who are apparently worried about this new competition from Kylie. Akki had been a darling and did his best to make Kylie feel at home by throwing a party to the entire crew of Blue in honour of Ms. Minogue. Akki darling is also said to have done some of the cooking for the party.
Talking about Kylie Minogue’s role in the movie, director Anthony says that Kylie has a full-fledged role in the movie. She is cast in a pivotal role that takes the story forward. This was in contrast to the previous assumptions that Kylie just had a song and dance sequence in the movie. I wonder how the song has turned out. She is one of my favourite singers.
Talking about Bollywood in earlier interviews Kylie had been heard saying that Shah Rukh Khan was her favourite Bollywood actor and that she would like to meet him one day. When asked about her favourite Bollywood movie, she had said that Om Shanti Om would always be her favourite Bollywood movie! Alas, due to her tight shooting schedule now in Mumbai, Kylie Minogue has had to refuse meeting Shah Rukh Khan. But more disappointed than Shah Rukh Khan are the hundreds of Kylie fans who are not being allowed even a glimpse of their star.
What with Indian actors like Freida Pinto, Aishwarya Rai, Shahana Goswami, making it big internationally and International stars coming to India, it all just goes to show how fast Indian cinema is catching up with the world.

I must confess that I had no idea about Kylie maintaining her personal collection of movies on a 32 GB memory card!! That is news to me. What I wrote was some tit-bit of information that was hiding in one of the cobwebby corners of my mind before I decided to write this article.
