How Astrology can Guide us?

Recently there was a group discussion on one of the worrisome natural disasters- earthquake. One gentleman held everyone mesmerized by presenting something irrefutable. Let a few facts be presented before narrating what he said. Bhubaneswar –the capital city of Orissa has the presence of ten million temples. It is called the city of ancient temples. He made an interesting observation of the old part of the city, which has a dotted presence of innumerable temples bearing the aesthetics of ancient architecture. He placed the argument before everybody about the great scientific acumen that our forefathers had possessed. In the old part of Bhubaneswar, one temple has the most notable presence. It is the gargantuan shrine of lord Shiva, known by his other name Lingaraja. The shrine is more than one thousand years old. The gentleman presented various facts that fully suggested that our ancestors had complete knowledge about earthquake and other severe natural disasters.

He pressed upon the fact that the present print and electronic communication systems are at best one hundred years old in India. So there is no fact to suggest that during the last one thousand years there was no earthquake at the particular area, which has hundreds of thousands temples situated in it. The History dating back to a time more than one thousand years must be having many natural disasters in its annals. But why is it that all the temples are in tact from the claws of destruction by earthquakes and natural disasters.

This is an indisputable proof of the great scientific knowledge about construction that our savant ancestors had.

Indians derived their Science from the great precepts of Vedas. Our saints were great masters of Science. Unfortunately with the decadence of our culture and loss of independence, we aped the western nations and understood that Science which only evolved from technology and machinery.

There is a difference between the modern-day scientists and our saints. Saints studied and developed Science for the cause of human good but modern day scientists developed Science as a means to attain human greed. In the bygones Science flourished into an art of human progress; further developing in many branches of human excellence in creativity. The instances are the wonders of the world which the modern day scientists even find difficult to comprehend. The modern day scientists extended Science as the paths of conquering the selfish and destructive ends; atom bomb is the bright example.

Any one who has seen the great Sun temple of Konark in Orissa would of course feel bewildered that how the gigantic stones were brought to the site when the temple was constructed. In the nearby miles there are no such mines or mountains. It has remained an unsolved riddle so far that what were the modes of transportation’s at that time.

Astrology as a Science strikes a similar chord. But now-a-days sadly it has lost the sheen of truth and logic. It is divided into various parts; stating one thing in many ways. The interpretations are never the same. Most of the people resorting to this great Science are only out of fear and those who claim to be masters in this merely show off their learnedness’ before others.

Some of the common features of this great Science are;

Astrology explains us the cause of human birth

Astrology is a part of Veda, which tells every one that a creature gets the human birth only after doing immense good. Every creature is not destined to be born as a human. It is after a great struggle for many births, a jiva (creature) gets born as a human. Normally it is understood that only after achieving merits and demerits by the percentages of fifty and fifty, a creature is eligible to get a human birth.

Astrology shows the ways for the end of cycle of births and deaths

Once one life is shaped into the being of a human, the struggle for diminishing the demerits of former births begins. The demerits of the former births have to decrease so as to enable a human being to be free from the cycles of births and deaths; from the clutches of unbearable agonies for committing the sins which resulted in to demerits and repeated births in various lives of creatures like insects in the garbage. So Mokhya, the ultimate end from births and deaths shall come only when a being is free from the demerits of past lives; his or her sins have been atoned with the completion of sufferings in different phases of time , known as dasha by the terms given on the pages in the Astrological books.

Astrology does not have  short-cut methods which can free a human being from suffering- it can only guide one for a balanced living

The quintessential Bhagvat Gita explains us about a state of living namely Sthitaprangyata. It implies a state of  mind in which a human being lives in a balanced condition ,never falling for worse in case of adversities in time, nor getting carried away by ego, when there is abundant prosperity and plenty of knowledge. Therefore there can not be a better aid other than Astrology to elucidate one human being about the means of attaining progress towards Mokhya. The struggle to achieve this has to continue even in the worst of times of life. The consequences of our demerits have to be faced by the means of doing superior good towards all. Such an act reduces our demerits and thenceforth promoting us in births of higher, enlightened human beings.

Regrettably now-a-days astrologers do not explain all such hard truths behind our existence, but prescribe remedies leaving the humans in the darkness of misunderstanding and bewilderment. Such an excellent Science is engaged in advising people about the ways to satisfy their greed. Promotion in job, purchase of new  things and other material goals have become main attractions in Astrology.

But true Astrology does not guarantee attainment of selfish ends.

Astrology rekindles the light of wisdom for salvation

With the precepts from Astrology, the awakening inside a human being begins. From a state of living in the hypes of unconsciousness, he begins his journey into a conscious, balanced living. Even after his death, the awareness remains in his being only to be rekindled and nurtured in the next births till it reaches in the higher planes of self- realization resulting in salvation. Astrology gives this invaluable insight because it is a part of mighty Veda- the greatest of all scriptures of modern times.

Astrology gives peace of mind and understanding even in the terrible times

Every astrologer explains about the good and bad of a particular time (Dasha) in one’s life. He can highlight about the evils of five evil planets and four good planets and the bad and good consequences, occurring due to yogas in the birth charts.

A few of them tell about the facts behind changes in time.

Every thing in the world gets changed over time including the conditions of a human being. Today if one is suffering due to a particular phase of time; rest assured this shall end bringing in its wake bigger benefits.

The human-being must carry the knowledge that good and bad pass away in due course of time and nothing is permanent. He must carry the same enlightenment that time has endowed on him.

Why predictions by Astrologers do not come true?

Now-a-days, many complain about the predictions in Astrology are not coming true. There is the most sought after part of Astrology known as Phalit Jyotish –predictive Astrology. Many a person blames astrologers for giving predictions just opposite of the truth. The reasons are;

  • In the present age, a human-being is just reduced to a bundle of desires. As the famous lines from Economics state human wants are unlimited, the so called remedies of Astrology can not be means for satisfaction of all human wants. Employing Astrology as a means of wealth, health and progeny is just the opposite of the foundations of such great Science.
  • The second is the concept of karma- deeds. It is stated in all the scriptures that the basic reason of every suffering is ignorance. It is the ignorance about what one has done and the consequences thereof. Nothing can redeem from the consequences of what one has done. One has to reap as he has sown. In the famous epic of Mahabharata, the evil king Duryodhona’s horoscope was prepared by the great saint Vyasa and he had given prophesy that Duryodhana would be famous as a ruler for his magnanimity. But the day, the latter committed the heinous attempt of disrobing his sister-in-law Draupadi in the presence of all noblemen, Vyasa turned up to inform Duryodhana that the merits of his one thousand births were spoilt by such a dastardly act.

Merits of a horoscope can not give the anticipated results because of one’s fault in committing utterly heinous things in the present birth, which disqualifies him from the enjoyment of every good thing in his horoscope.
